Al-Karkh University of Science participates in the second conference on sustainable development in water resources ….

    A delegation from Al-Karkh university of science, headed by Prof. Dr. Thamir A. Hassan, participated in the second conference on sustainable development in water resources which was organized by ministry of water resources at the invitation of His Excellency minister of water resources.

  
  The participation included two researches by  Dr. Rafa Abbas , Dean of college of remote sensing and geophysics, and Dr. Furat Al-Moussawi , the Dean assistant for administrative affairs , on the importance of marshes and oil exploration.

Dr. Thamir A. Hassan ,in his speech , said that considering Ministry of Water Resources as a sovereign Ministry  is very important at this stage, especially it is no less important than Ministry of Defense , Interior and Ministry of Foreign Affairs .

He also added that the next stage will be a phase of escalation on the level of claims of water quotas , in the presence of the Turkish  Alesso dam and the Iranian Karrun dam , which may deprive Iraq from its water share .

It is worth mentioning that the conference witnessed important lectures by Dr. Mahdi Al- Haffid on reform in fiscal, monetary policy and banking sector and Dr. Abdul Latif Rasheed , the former Minister of Ministry of Water Resources , on how to make a maximum use of resources and the necessity to contract international agreements relating to the preservation the Iraq’s right of water quotas .

Another lecture by Hisham Al-Midfaai on the fixed level of water of Tigris river . The lectures concluded with a valuable lecture by His Highness Minister of Water Resources Dr. Hassan Al-Janabi on the strategies  and plans of the Ministry .
