
Al-Karkh University of Sciences Organizes an Educational Seminar on the Psychological Effects of Human Trafficking
Under the patronage of the President of Al-Karkh University of Sciences, Prof. Juma Salman Jihad, the Center for Continuing Education and the College of Remote Sensing and Geophysics at the university, in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports/Department of Youth Culture and Arts/Department of Psychological and Social Rehabilitation to Combat Extremism, organized an educational seminar on the psychological effects of human trafficking. The seminar was attended by a number of university faculty, staff, and students.
The seminar included a lecture delivered by Dr. Muhammad Muwaffaq Makki, lecturer at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Professor Samer Hafez Hamid, and our university lecturer, Asst. M.M. Hussein Sami Shihab, on the dangers of human trafficking to society, particularly among young people, and how to avoid falling prey to organized crime networks, particularly on the internet and social media.
The seminar aimed to raise public awareness and protect them from this type of crime, highlighting the social and humanitarian dimensions of human trafficking and its inherent dangers. It also highlighted the specific aspects of this crime, the laws and legislation pertaining to this type of crime, and possible procedures for reporting such crimes. It also outlined the legal remedies for this phenomenon.
The seminar recommended the need to intensify international efforts to combat human trafficking through international cooperation, educate communities about the seriousness of this phenomenon, discourage involvement in any form, and develop legal remedies for this phenomenon.
At the conclusion of the seminar, the lecturers thanked the audience and the organizers, appreciating the efforts of Al-Kharkh University of Science for being a pioneer in holding numerous workshops and seminars that serve the public interest and society.
