
Al-Karkh University of Sciences holds a University Council meeting and discusses topics on its agenda
The Al-Karkh University of Sciences Council held its session, chaired by the University President, Professor Jumaa Salman Jiyad, with the attendance of senior university staff for the 2024-2025 academic year, to discuss the topics on the agenda for academic, administrative, and financial axes.
The Council began its work by listening to the University President’s directives, which included a detailed presentation of the most prominent new ministerial instructions related to students, faculty, and staff. He emphasized the need to adhere to and implement these instructions to serve the educational and scientific progress at the university.
In the context of developing the university’s infrastructure, the Council discussed a memorandum submitted by the Projects and Construction Department regarding the project to establish projects and rehabilitate old university buildings. This project aims to construct modern and advanced buildings for the university’s newly established colleges.
The Council Chairman called on the members of the revitalization committees to submit detailed plans for the projects they deem necessary for the colleges, identifying the proposed locations for their implementation and rehabilitating the old buildings, within a short period of time.
The Council also discussed the university’s plan for digital transformation by intensifying courses in the Human Resources Management System and the Student Management System, based on the Ministry’s directives to reduce red tape, shorten transaction processing times, and promote transparency in operations.
Council members also discussed the activation of scientific journals and their progress rates, with the aim of preparing them for inclusion in global digital repositories.
The Council’s agenda also included discussions on forming a higher committee to hold an international scientific conference and agreeing on publishing research in the global repository Scopus.
In a move aimed at expanding the scope of graduate studies at the university, the Council approved the creation of graduate programs in the Colleges of Science, Energy and Environmental Sciences, Remote Sensing, and Geophysics. These programs meet student aspirations and contribute to the development of scientific research in these fields.
The session concluded with an emphasis on the importance of following up on the implementation of the decisions and recommendations reached, in a way that serves the interests of the university and its members and contributes to achieving its academic, scientific, and societal goals.
