The Professor at College of Remote Sensing and Geophysics, Dr. Ahmed Askar Najaf published a research in Elsevier Journal, about the organic geochemistry characterization of crude oils from Mishrif reservoir rocks in the south Iraq.
The research dealt with the organic geochemistry characterization of crude oils in the southern Mesopotamian Basin, providing information on the source of organic matter input and the genetic link between oils and their potential source rock in the basin.
The study showed that the most important crude oil basins located in the south Iraq, namely in the Mishrif reservoir which goes back to the Cretaceous age which is the perfect age for many of the oil reservoirs in southern Iraq.
