
A Scientific Lecture on the Criteria for the British Times Classification of the Best Universities for the Year of 2024
The Chancellor of the University, Professor Dr. Thamer Abdulameer Hasan Al-Kazimi, presented a scientific lecture on scientific research, its importance, and the British Times Higher Education ranking criteria for the best universities for the year of 2024.
The Chancellor stated that "the Times World Classification has main standards for classifying universities based on eighteen indicators to evaluate and measure performance in five areas: teaching (learning environment) 29.5%, research environment 29%, research quality 30%, international outlook 7.5%, and industry income 4%.
Dr. Al-Kazimi pointed out that "the development and progress of society depends on the results of scientific research, which is the primary goal that we seek to achieve". The chancellor also urged researchers and academics to address the issue of scientific citations. Moreover, He stressed the necessity of activating research teams and developing plans because they are the most important factors in the advancement and strength of scientific research.
It is noteworthy that this year's classification included more than 134 million citations from more than 5.16 million research publications, in addition to questionnaire responses from 68,402 scientists worldwide. Overall, more than 411,789 data points were collected from more than 2,673 organizations that submitted data.
