A symposium at Al-Karkh University of Science on the applications of remote sensing in field
The College of Remote Sensing and Geophysics at Al-Karkh University of Science organized its third annual scientific symposium on remote sensing applications and geographic information systems under the patronage of Dr. Thamir A. Hassan, the President of the University. The symposium was attended by a number of faculty members and specialists.
The symposium, which included two sessions, included several lectures on the characteristics and uses of aircraft images, the processing of satellite images, assessment of the state of land desertification, and opportunities for developing oil exploration.
The symposium discussed opportunities for developing explorations, the use of GIS techniques in solid waste management, smart phone applications for seismic monitoring, and other fields.
The symposium aims to build a sophisticated information network between the university and experts concerned with remote sensing, which contributes to the service of the digital and information system in Iraq, research in modern methods of remote sensing science, and how to employ it effectively in marine, scientific and exploratory applications.
