A symposium at Al-Karkh University of Science on the risks of hunting the Flamingo birds
In collaboration with Ministry of Agriculture, College of Remote Sensing and Geophysics, Al-Karkh University of Science organized a scientific symposium on the endanger of hunting the Flamingo birds and its impact on the ecological imbalance as well as the inclusion of the Iraqi Marshes to the World Heritage list.
It was discussed during the symposium the risks of hunting this kind of birds and its effect on the ecological imbalance in this area, and addressing the laws of the wild animals protection and CITES treaty for the protection of these animals.
Furthermore, the symposium addressed the necessary means to protect these animals through establishing special reserves for these birds to ensure restoring the natural balance without inflicting direct or indirect damages to the environment and prevent hunting permanently and imposing sanctions on the violators, as well as making campaigns in the social media and media organizations to support the campaign of these birds protection.
