
Al Karkh University for Science participates in the virtual meeting of the European Union partners
Al-Karkh University of Science participated in a meeting with the hypothetical partners of the INSPIRE project, sponsored by the European Union and with the participation of the Union of Mediterranean Universities, the Italian University of Siena, the Portuguese Evora University, and Istanbul Aydin University in Turkey.
The meeting included the participation of Al-Karkh University of Science headed by the President of Al-Karkh University of Science, Prof. Dr. Thamer A. A. Hassan, and the Vice-Chancellor for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Rid Nawfee Hassan. Dr. Thamer said during a speech on this occasion that Al-Karkh University of Science is keen to be a main partner in the INSPIRE project, which is concerned with building higher education capacities in Iraq, in a manner that ensures the establishment of international academic partnerships and international cooperation between the universities of Iraq and the universities of the European Union.
For his part, Professor Mussari from the University of Siena, Italy, and the coordinator of the Inspire project, gave a detailed presentation on the work plans, timetables and deliverables of the project.
On behalf of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nabil Kazem Abdel-Saheb, Dr. Alaa Abdel-Hassan Attia, Directir of the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority, delivered a welcome speech at the meeting, expressing the interest of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the project aimed at improving the higher education system in Iraq, in addition to emphasizing the ministry’s commitment to achieve the project’s objectives.
The meeting included presentations by the Union of Mediterranean Universities, the Portuguese University of Evora and the University of Siena in Italy, which included a detailed explanation of the implementation mechanisms of the INSPIRE project and the financial policy of the project in terms of financing, support and covering expenses for the participants, in addition to a detailed explanation of the project's quality plan, tools and STANDARDS related to this plan.
The University of Siena of Italy made a presentation which focused on the deliverables of the project, the most important of which is the master plan for stakeholders in the program, the diagnostic tool and field visits for representatives of European universities to Iraqi universities, in addition to the final report on updating the needs analysis of partner universities and the self-evaluation of these universities.
It is worth noting that the INSPIRE program aims to enhance knowledge, scientific and cultural exchange between Iraqi universities and the universities of the European Union, and draw up a strategic plan for governance in higher education. Al-Karkh University of Science will contribute to the program in entering the training program on developing higher education curricula and educational materials and selecting participants for this training. It is reported that INSPIRE is a project supported by the European Erasmus Program with the participation of a number of Iraqi universities and under the direct supervision of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
