
Al-Karkh University of Science celebrates the International Day of the Arabic Language
The College of Energy and Environmental Sciences at Karkh University of Science held a celebration of the International Day of the Arabic Language (Day of the Dhad), which falls on December 18 of each year, in the presence of a group of professors and university students.
The Dean of the College of Energy and Environmental Sciences, Dr. Amani Ibrahim, said that the Arabic language is one of the greatest languages on earth due to its religious, historical and cultural value to all Arabs, stressing the importance of preserving the Arabic language as part of the true identity of the Arabs.
For his part, the Associate Dean of the College of Energy and Environmental Sciences for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Sudani, said that the Arabic language is one of the most widely used languages in the world, and one of the oldest known languages, stressing that it has characteristics that distinguish it from other languages, and its steadfastness in the face of many external and internal challenges.
The celebration witnessed the recitation of poems, language competitions and a number of theatrical plays by a number of university students, which show the importance of the Arabic language in our daily and social lives.
It is worth mentioning that the celebration of the Arabic language on this date dates back to the issuance of the United Nations General Assembly Resolution No. (3190) on December 18, 1973, which stipulated the inclusion of the Arabic language among the official and working languages of the United Nations.
