Al-Karkh University of Science Holds a Scientific Symposium on Green Education
Under the sponsorship of the Chancellor of Al-Karkh University of Science, Professor Dr. Thamer Abdulameer Al-Kazemi, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Remote Sensing and Geophysics, Professor Ahmed Abbas, the College of Remote Sensing and Geophysics at Al-Karkh University of Science held the scientific symposium entitled “The College of Remote Sensing and Geophysics in Spreading Green Education” in the presence of Assistant Chancellor of the University for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Louay Kazem Abboud, and a delegation from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, as well as university employees, teachers and students.
The symposium, which falls within a project launched by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and under the supervision of UNESCO, aims to unify efforts and set concepts in Iraqi society to confront the dangers of climate change.
The symposium included several topics, the most important of which were: launching the Green Curriculum Initiative, which deals with environmental topics in the curricula, building green capabilities by adopting and consolidating environmentally friendly practices, and preparing conscious generations that are the nucleus of a green society socially responsible for preserving the environment, starting with the child in kindergarten.
The symposium included a number of lectures, including a lecture by the Assistant Dean of the College of Remote Sensing and Geophysics for Scientific Affairs, Professor Awras Mohi Taha, entitled (Green Societies), and a lecture by the faculty professor, Professor Amani Ibrahim Al-Tamimi, entitled (UNESCO Green Education Initiative). And a lecture by the college’s lecturer, Dr. Furat Al-Mousawi, entitled (Building Green Capacities).
