
Al-Karkh University of Science Organizes a Seminar on Climate Change
The Center for Continuing Education and the Department of Quality Assurance at Al-Karkh University of Science in cooperation with the Ministry of Health / Environment, Department of Environmental Awareness and Media – Department of University Environment organized a seminar on climate change and its effects on Iraq and its water bodies, in the presence of the Assistant Chancellor of the University for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Loay Kazem Abboud, and Mr. Dean Faculty of Remote Sensing and Geophysics, Dr. Kamal Muhammad Abboud, and a number of teachers, specialists and students.
The seminar included two lectures, the first was presented by the teacher, Ibtisam Mansour Bassim, during which she explained the causes of climate change and its effects on the globe, and the effects of climate change such as the threat to food and health security, the loss of livelihoods, and the threat to water security.
The lecture included introducing the objectives of climate agreements, such as the Paris Climate Agreement, and the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 27(.
The second lecture dealt with green technology and its role in achieving sustainable environmental development. It was presented by Dr. Hind Ibrahim Abdel Ghafour, Director of the Quality Assurance Department at the university, during which she explained the identification of the role of green technology mechanisms in achieving sustainable environmental development and the techniques provided by this technology to contribute to preserving the environmental balance and alleviating the various problems of pollution, and the mechanisms for investing this technology in achieving the long-term sustainability of natural resources and not depleting them.
