
Al-Karkh University of Science Organizes a Training Course on the Art of Painting on Glass and Wood
As part of its commitment to enhancing artistic skills and fostering creativity among students and staff, the College of Remote Sensing and Geophysics at Al-Karkh University of Science, in cooperation with the university’s Center for Continuing Education, organized a specialized training course on painting on glass and wood.
The three-day course aimed to develop participants’ manual and artistic skills, encouraging them to innovate and express themselves creatively by using glass and wood as artistic mediums.
The course, delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Laila Shuweil Hussein, faculty member at the College of Remote Sensing and Geophysics, introduced participants to the art of painting on glass and wood, the tools required, special glass paints, and materials such as dishes, cups, and glass and wooden panels. It also covered how to select and outline designs using a special liner before applying colors.
The organizers emphasized the importance of incorporating artistic activities into university training programs, given their role in strengthening students’ psychological well-being and creativity during the summer break, in addition to the potential of turning these skills into small-scale productive projects in the future.
Participants expressed their happiness in taking part in the course, affirming the value of the new techniques and methods they learned in painting on glass and wood.
This course is part of a series of training activities organized by the College of Remote Sensing and Geophysics, in collaboration with the Center for Continuing Education, as part of the university’s efforts to cultivate diverse skills among its students and prepare them comprehensively for the labor market.
