The Women’s Affairs Division at Al-Karkh University of Science, in cooperation with the Department of Media and Government Communication and the Department of Administrative and Financial Affairs, organized a workshop entitled:
“Protecting Women / Security and Peace / The Third Pillar”, with the participation of a number of faculty members and staff.
The workshop was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Iman Jawad Hadi from the Department of Media and Ms. Shurooq Abdul Mutashir, an employee in the Department of Administrative and Financial Affairs. Their lectures addressed several topics, including protecting women against violence, effective policies to combat it, human trafficking, as well as harassment and sexual assault.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness about the importance of launching awareness campaigns to enhance knowledge of women’s rights, the necessity of protecting them from all forms of violence, holding perpetrators accountable, and ensuring a safe and just environment for women. It also emphasized the need to empower women to participate in decision-making processes related to their protection and guarantee that their rights are embedded within such decisions.
It is worth noting that the third pillar of protecting women refers to a set of measures and procedures designed to safeguard women and girls from all forms of violence and discrimination, while ensuring their access to justice and the necessary support services.
