
Al-Karkh University of Science organizes an educational seminar on smoking prevention
The Student Activities Department, in cooperation with the Department of Media and Government Communication and the Continuing Education Center at Al-Karkh University of Science, organized an educational seminar entitled “Smoking and its Health and Societal Effects.” This seminar is part of its ongoing efforts to spread health awareness among students and faculty members and is part of the National Tobacco Control Plan.
The seminar aims to highlight the health risks of smoking and its negative effects on individuals and society. It also discusses prevention and treatment methods and encourages healthy behaviors within the university environment.
A number of members of the University’s Student Activities Department participated in the seminar, providing scientific guidance supported by recent statistics and studies on the harmful effects of smoking, including secondhand smoke, and its relationship to chronic diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and lung disease.
For its part, the University Presidency emphasized the importance of organizing such awareness-raising events, emphasizing the role of academic institutions in building a healthy society free of harmful behaviors.
The symposium also witnessed widespread interaction from students, who participated with contributions and questions that enriched the discussion.
This initiative is part of a series of activities implemented by the university, which aim to create a smoke-free learning environment and promote a culture of health awareness among students.
