Al-Karkh University of Science participated in the funeral ceremonies for the Pope. Assistant Professor Dr. Aqeel Al-Kadhimi represented the President of the University in attending the funeral at the Embassy headquarters in Baghdad. He offered condolences on behalf of the President of the University to the Ambassador, conveying his greetings and prayers for God’s mercy and forgiveness for the Pope. He was a symbol of peace and brotherhood in the world, especially during his visit to Iraq, where he called for the rejection of extremism and violence in Iraq and Palestine. He was also the first to defend immigrants. Due to his extreme humility, he requested to be buried in the ground without any special decorations, a testament to his simplicity.
The Ambassador also expressed his gratitude for the presence of the President of the University’s representative and presented the President of the University with a book depicting the life of the late Pope Francis II, his life’s milestones, and his achievements to the world.
For his part, Assistant Professor Dr. Aqil Al-Kadhimi, representing the University President, praised the atmosphere of faith and the excellent organization and arrangement of this painful occasion by the Vatican Embassy. He explained that this occasion is a great opportunity to draw inspiration from the lessons and morals of faith, regardless of religion.
