
Al-Karkh University of Science participates in a discussion seminar on patterns of good governance in Portuguese and Irish universities
Al-Karkh University of Science participated in a discussion symposium on patterns of good governance in universities and higher education institutions, represented by the President of Al-Karkh University of Science, a. Dr. Thamer Abdel Amir Hassan, deans of faculties and a number of university teachers.
The seminar, which was presented by the Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Ministry of Higher Education in Portugal, Mr. Pedro Barias, and the Special Adviser to the Ministry of Higher Education in Ireland, Mr. Rodri Nevin, included the main concepts and patterns of good governance that are represented by decisions, instructions, conditions, legal framework and controls that shape the way in which higher education institutions operate.
The symposium included presenting the experience of good governance in higher education in the Republic of Portugal and the experience of good governance in higher education institutions in the Republic of Ireland, highlighting the issue of university independence and the investment aspect in higher education institutions, encouraging entrepreneurship in universities and developing higher education policies and strategies.
It is worth noting that the seminar is part of the activities of the Inspire project supported by the European Union, in which Karkh University of Science is a main partner.
The symposium was concluded by asking questions to the symposium's lecturers and discussing the mechanism of applying good governance in Iraqi universities.
