
Al-Karkh University of Science participates in the Iraqi Human Development Forum
Al-Karkh University of Science, represented by the President of the University, Prof. Thamer Abdel Amir Hassan, participated in the Iraqi Human Development Forum held in Baghdad by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in cooperation with the World Bank Group. The forum included a speech by His Excellency the Minister of Education, Dr.Nabil Kazem Abdel Sahib, during which he stressed the importance of international cooperation with Iraq to contribute to the development of human capital to achieve sustainable development goals.
The Minister of Education emphasized a scientific strategy that extends to the year 2030. He explained, in the context of dialogues in which representatives of the ministries of education, planning and finance, experts, academics, professors from the Ministry of Education and Iraqi universities and specialists from the World Bank Group participated, that Iraqi educational institutions deal with changes and challenges according to flexible procedures. Do not neglect the formulation of the requirements imposed by the strategic deal with the coming years, stressing the initiation of the formulation of a scientific strategy that starts from analyzing the reality of education in Iraq and linking it to the challenges and extends until the year 2030 and takes into account the document of the national strategy for education drawn up from the year 2012 until the year 2022.
He added that the current economic situation had an impact on the level of institutional support and project financing, noting at the same time that educational institutions did not stop at the borders of the crisis, but rather went beyond them to overcoming problems and adapting to changes and proceeded with their primary mission in education, scientific research and community service and achieved important results. At the level of global publication and competition in international rankings, he called at the same time to adopt scientific evaluations with accurate data and compare the results of institutions in light of the current challenges and the population growth indicator.
The participants expressed their hope to formulate strategic cooperation between Iraq and the competent international organizations to provide the state's sectors and institutions with the necessary support in terms of capacity building, skills development, and achieving the goal of development by investing in human capital in Iraq.
