Al-Karkh University of Sciences holds a central celebration on the occasion of International Women’s Day

Under the patronage and attendance of the President of Al-Karkh University of Sciences, Professor Juma Salman Jihad, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Division and the Student Activities Department at the University Presidency, held a central celebration on the occasion of International Women’s Day, which falls on March 8. The celebration was attended by the Assistant President for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Kadhim Hilan Mohsen; the Dean of the College of Remote Sensing and Geophysics, Dr. Ahmed Abbas; and Colonel Mohammed Rashid Ibrahim, representing the Community Police in the Al-Salihiya Sector in Baghdad, as well as female colleagues from the academic and professional staff at the university.

The President of the University, Professor Dr. Juma Salman Jihad, said: “Today we celebrate an occasion dear to our hearts and precious to our souls. We celebrate International Women’s Day. We celebrate mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters. It is a global celebration held to demonstrate respect for women and appreciate their role in society at various political, economic, social, and cultural levels.”

His Excellency highlighted the importance of respecting and appreciating women, emphasizing that women have contributed significantly to society’s development and continuity of intellectual life throughout history. They have played a pioneering role in enriching this life with distinguished knowledge in various scientific fields. He congratulated the female colleagues from the academic and professional community on their auspicious occasion, praising and appreciating the role of those in charge of this distinguished festival.

In her speech, the head of the Women’s Affairs Division at the university, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nada Farouk Abboud, indicated that celebrating female colleagues from the academic and professional community is a symbolic sign of the university’s commitment to the remarkable role they play in advancing and developing the university. She emphasized that women are capable of achieving excellence in their work and have the capacity to shoulder social and educational responsibility. She expressed her gratitude to the university president for his support of women’s empowerment at the university.

At the conclusion of the celebration, the distinguished female faculty and staff who participated in the celebration were honored by the university president and the assistant president for administrative affairs.
