About the Department
The Department of Media and Government Communication at Al-Kharkh University of Science is a vital link between the university and the community. It is responsible for conveying a true picture of the university’s academic, scientific, and research achievements, documenting activities and events, and continuously working to enhance internal and external communication according to the highest standards of professionalism.
Vision
To be a leader in university media and government communication by building a positive, effective, and distinguished institutional image that reflects the scientific and research identity of Al-Kharkh University of Science.
Mission
To spread the culture of institutional communication and promote transparency by communicating accurate information and purposeful media content, and to build strategic relationships with the media, the public, government institutions, the private sector, and the public, in a manner that serves the university’s objectives and consolidates its position in the academic and scientific community.

Public Relations Division
The Public Relations Division is concerned with promoting the university’s positive image and developing internal and external communication channels, contributing to supporting the university’s goals and strategic plans. The division consists of three organizational units, working in conjunction to ensure effective communication between the university and various entities. The division consists of the following units:
First: Government Communication Unit
Implementing the instructions of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers/Government Communication Department.
Coordinating with ministries and official departments regarding government directives and media releases.
Preparing the university’s official responses to government inquiries in coordination with the relevant departments.
Unifying the university’s media discourse in accordance with approved communication policies.
Preparing monthly and annual reports on government communication activities.
Second: Email Unit
Manages the university’s official email, receiving incoming and outgoing messages and correspondence.
Archiving and organizing email to ensure easy retrieval.
Redirecting incoming correspondence to relevant entities within the university accurately and quickly.
Following up on responses and ensuring procedures are implemented within the specified timeframes.
Maintaining the confidentiality of correspondence and securing email accounts from hacking or misuse.
Third: Coordination Unit
Coordinates between the university presidency and affiliated colleges and centers regarding events and conferences.
Organizes official appointments, visits, and meetings with governmental and non-governmental entities.
Facilitates communication between various university departments to ensure smooth workflow.
Follows up on the implementation of administrative directives and recommendations issued by the university presidency.
Coordinates with media outlets to cover important university activities and events.
Media Division
The Media Division is responsible for producing the university’s media content, documenting its scientific and cultural events, and communicating them to the public in a professional manner that reflects the university’s corporate identity. The division includes several specialized units that work in harmony to achieve the university’s communication goals. It consists of the following units:
First: News Unit
Prepares and drafts news and reports on university events and activities.
Monitors conferences, seminars, and academic events and provides media coverage.
Coordinates with departments and colleges to document their academic and educational achievements.
Proofreads press materials linguistically and professionally before publication.
Sends news to official media outlets and news agencies for external publication.
Second: Photography and Editing Unit
Documents university events through photography and video.
Produces visual clips (introductory videos, reports, and coverage) that highlight the university’s activities.
Performs montage and technical editing of clips to align with the university’s visual identity.
Archives photos and videos within an organized database.
Supports media campaigns by preparing professional visual content.
Third: Media Monitoring Unit
Monitors and analyzes publications about the university in visual, audio, and print media.
Preparing periodic reports on media coverage of the university.
Monitoring positive and negative signals and addressing them in coordination with the Government Communications Unit.
Monitoring news on higher education and Iraqi universities to update university content to keep pace with developments.
Documenting public and media responses to university activities.
Fourth: Administrative Unit
Organizing and archiving official correspondence related to the division.
Preparing monthly staff schedules and tracking attendance and departure.
Managing division resources, including equipment and personnel.
Coordinating with other administrative departments to ensure smooth workflow.
Storing administrative orders and records related to media work.
Fifth: Social Media Unit
Monitoring digital performance and analyzing statistics and reports to develop content.
Managing the university’s official accounts on social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.).
Designing and publishing interactive digital content (text, images, videos, infographics).
Interacting with the online audience and responding to their inquiries and suggestions.
Supporting awareness campaigns and university events through electronic publishing.
