
His Excellency the President of the Republic receives the Chancellor of Al-Karkh University for Science, Accompanied by a Number of Universities’ Chancellors in Baghdad
His Excellency the President of the Republic, Dr. Abdel-Latif Jamal Rashid, met on Monday, April 10, 2023, at the Baghdad Palace, a delegation of universities' chancellors included Prof. Dr. Thamer Abdulameer Hasan, Chancellor of Al-Karkh University for Science, Prof. Dr. Munir Al-Saadi, Chancellor of the University of Baghdad, and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Ghabban, Chancellor of the University of Technology and Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Jubouri, Chancellor of the Iraqi University, and Prof. Dr. Abdul Mohsen Naji, Chancellor of the Central Technical University.
During the meeting, the reality of university education in the country was discussed, whereby His Excellency the President of the Republic stressed on the need to prioritize the scientific aspect and its sobriety to graduate students with scientific and academic foundations, pointing out that Iraqi universities are considered among the oldest universities in the region and have a good reputation and scientific sobriety at the world level. It graduated brilliant scientific and academic elites working inside and outside the country.
Mr. President has indicated that he will conduct field visits to Iraqi universities, stressing the importance of the private sector having a role in absorbing graduate students.
The President pointed out the importance of developing universities through cooperation and coordination with their peers in the world as well as with international scientific and research centers, stressing the need to improve the reality of private colleges, and attention to developing curricula for students, and the need to support the top and distinguished to develop their skills and benefit from their capabilities.
For their part, the attending universities' chancellors expressed their thanks to His Excellency the President of the Republic for his keenness to enhance the status of universities, stressing that their institutions have taken plans to raise the scientific level and increase the number of students on scholarships abroad. They also pointed out the importance of coordination with civil and government companies.
