Mission:

The Human Rights Division at Al-Kharkh University of Science seeks to spread awareness and knowledge of human rights among students and faculty, and to instill the values ​​of tolerance, acceptance of others, and good citizenship through educational and cultural programs, quality activities, and effective partnerships with local and international institutions.

Goals:

  1. Promote awareness of human rights culture among students, faculty, and staff.
  2. Integrate human rights concepts into educational and cultural activities at the university.
  3. Hold courses, workshops, and seminars aimed at building the capacity of university community members in the field of human rights.
  4. Support community and volunteer initiatives that contribute to respect for human rights and the rejection of violence and extremism.
  5. Cooperate with relevant national institutions to promote a culture of human rights on campus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Proposing plans, programs, and procedures aimed at promoting and protecting human rights within Al-Kharkh University of Science.
  2. Receiving complaints submitted by students or members of Al-Karkh University of Science (faculty members or staff) that fall within the department’s jurisdiction, studying them, and developing appropriate solutions in coordination with relevant university authorities. These tasks also include establishing a database for human rights audit and investigation committees and updating it periodically.
  3. Raising legal awareness among students and members of Al-Karkh University of Science by disseminating and promoting a culture of human rights within university circles.
  4. Developing the skills of the Human Rights Department staff at Al-Karkh University of Science and building their technical and scientific capacities through training and qualification programs and plans in coordination with relevant authorities.
  5. Strengthening cooperation with active civil society organizations and institutions, after obtaining official approvals from the relevant authorities.
  6. Submitting periodic reports on the activities and achievements of the Human Rights Department at Al-Karkh University of Science to the Academic Supervision and Evaluation Authority (Human Rights Department) and documenting these achievements.
  7. Contributing to the preparation of specialized studies and research in the field of human rights, consistent with the university’s specializations and academic orientations.
  8. Carrying out any other tasks. And other specializations required by the nature of the work of the Human Rights Department at Al-Kharkh University of Science or assigned by the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority.
