
In pursuit of the seventh, eleventh, thirteenth, and seventeenth Sustainable Development Goals, a faculty member from Al-Karkh University of Sciences is participating in the National Initiative for Energy Support and Emissions Reduction.
As part of the projects to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and the government’s plans to introduce clean and renewable energy sources into the distribution sector for government buildings and other facilities, Assistant Professor Dr. Firas Abdul Razzaq Hadi, a faculty member at Al-Karkh University of Sciences/College of Energy and Environmental Sciences, was selected as a member of the National Team for Incorporating Renewable Energy Projects into the Distribution Sector for Government Buildings and Other Facilities.
For his part, Dr. Firas Abdul Razzaq expressed his pride in this assignment, emphasizing the importance of these projects to the country and the service they provide to citizens in providing a clean electricity source. This, in turn, contributes to leveraging the experiences of ministries and government departments, as well as enriching his knowledge and academic expertise that contribute to the country’s advancement.
The purpose of forming this team is to support and bolster the electricity grid. The team is entrusted with preparing technical requirements, standards, tenders, bills of quantities, estimated costs, designs, and technical plans for each renewable energy project for approval in project implementation. The team’s responsibilities also include taking the necessary measures to implement these projects, monitoring their quality, and supervising their implementation. The team also prepares technical manuals for periodic maintenance of the projects, identifying the responsible parties, and submitting periodic reports on the team’s achievements to the Prime Minister’s Office. The team has been granted several powers, including communicating with government agencies on all matters related to the implementation of renewable energy projects and coordinating with international organizations concerned with renewable energy to benefit from expertise and financial support.
The formation of the team is part of the government’s efforts to achieve sustainable development goals and focus on renewable energy to advance its status and support
the electricity grid in the country.
These scientific contributions contribute to enhancing the university’s standing and strengthening cooperation between the university and government institutions to exchange scientific and applied expertise.
