Vision:
The Legal Affairs Department was established with the founding of Al-Karkh University of Science. The department reports to the Assistant President for Administrative Affairs, given the independence of legal work and the absence of any influences that could affect the provision of legal opinions.
Mission:
To contribute to the implementation of the law and provide legal advice to all colleges affiliated with the university. It also establishes investigative committees to achieve optimal application of the law.
Several objectives, the most important of which are: applying the law with utmost precision, not violating applicable regulations and instructions, providing the university and its colleges with legal advice whenever required, and defending the university’s rights and obligations.
- Organizing comprehensive studies, providing legal opinions in various fields, and providing relevant departments with legal advice.
- Actively participating in most committees formed within the university presidency, as well as other committees that require a legal aspect.
- Supervising investigative committees formed within the university presidency or affiliated colleges, monitoring their procedures, and auditing them from a legal perspective.
- Filing civil and criminal lawsuits against others to establish the university’s rights, representing the university before all courts and government departments, and following up on legal matters.
- Authenticating pledges and guarantees required from new employees, drivers, and security guards.
The department consists of four divisions, subdivided into units, as follows:
A. Rights and Litigation Division
Consists of two units, as follows:
Litigation Unit: Responsible for pleading lawsuits filed against the university and vice versa.
Committees Unit: Responsible for forming investigative committees, monitoring their completion, confirming committee appointments in the event of a delay within the legally specified deadline, following up on the implementation of committee recommendations, and documenting all such matters in a special register.
B. Legal Consultations Division: Responsible for providing legal opinions on matters requiring this, providing advice, and adapting legal texts to the cases presented to it.
It consists of two units, as follows:
Legal Consultations Unit: Responsible for providing legal opinions on matters requiring this.
Legal Legislation Unit: Responsible for researching legislation and legal texts, as well as instructions and decisions related to matters requiring legal opinions.
C- University Property and Housing Division: Responsible for receiving students benefiting from housing, completing housing transactions at the beginning of the academic year, issuing permanent and temporary housing orders, and issuing clearance certificates at the end of the academic year.
It consists of two units, as follows:
University Property Unit: This unit oversees matters related to university property.
University Housing Unit: Responsible for overseeing matters related to university housing.
C- Contracts and Student Guarantees Division: Responsible for obtaining and approving the guarantees submitted to it.
It consists of two units, as follows:
Study Contracts Unit: Responsible for concluding contracts for students, both university employees and those on scholarship.
Study Guarantees Unit: Responsible for documenting guarantees and pledges for students and university employees.
