President of Al-Karkh University of Science Chairs a Scientific Committee for a PhD Dissertation Defense at Al-Nahrain University’s College of Engineering

Prof. Dr. Jumaa Salman Jiyad, President of Al-Karkh University of Science, chaired the scientific committee for the defense of a PhD dissertation submitted by student Bashar Dhiaa Hussein in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering – Al-Nahrain University. The dissertation was entitled:

“Physical and Mechanical Characterization of Recycled Thermoplastic Polymers Produced by Modified Recycle Station for 3D Printing Filament.”

The defense took place in the Council Hall of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Al-Nahrain University, with the attendance of several professors and researchers.

The dissertation focused on studying the properties of recycled polymeric materials and testing their mechanical and physical efficiency after treatment using innovative techniques for producing 3D printing filament, contributing to sustainability and recycling approaches in modern engineering applications.

The committee chair and members commended the researcher’s efforts, emphasizing the importance of the study’s findings for both industrial and environmental applications.

At the conclusion of the defense, the committee recommended awarding the PhD degree with Distinction, subject to minor revisions suggested by the committee.
