Overview:
The Qualification, Employment, and Follow-up Division was established at Al-Karkh University of Science by University Order No. 1453 dated June 5, 2017. It serves as a link between the labor sector and the university. The division provides the fastest, easiest, and most economically effective methodologies for employers to find the best candidates for their jobs, and for graduates seeking employment to find the best positions in the labor market. An innovative recruitment approach is adopted to provide qualified and distinguished staff to manage companies, institutions, engineering, technical, and administrative offices, and in all specializations required in the labor market. This approach is achieved by training graduates through technical and administrative training courses, according to the required specializations, using a new approach that keeps pace with developments in modern education.

Mission:
To prepare university students to enhance their academic and technical capabilities, and to support them through qualification and training programs, and to seek employment from public and private sector companies. This division also aims to provide specialized services to students in the form of training programs and courses designed to meet the needs and requirements of the labor market, based on a practical study of market needs. The division also provides guidance services to students regarding available jobs.
Goals:
- Support the small and medium-sized enterprises sector by localizing jobs and providing job opportunities for young men and women.
- Promote the principle of partnership between the university and the public and private sectors to provide job opportunities.
- Meet the needs of the public and private sectors for qualified national cadres in various specialties, from both genders.
- Contribute to reducing the unemployment rate among graduates and improving their job productivity.
- Develop the personal, academic, and life skills of students and graduates in a modern manner consistent with the labor market.
- Prepare students and graduates from all colleges of Al-Karkh University of Science for the labor market and increase their chances and rate of obtaining jobs by establishing beneficial relationships with the local community, employers, and surrounding areas where suitable job opportunities may be available.
- Increase the competitiveness of graduates of Al-Karkh University of Science by providing basic training that qualifies them, equipping them with the necessary skills to search for jobs, and raising awareness of the needs of the labor market and its continuous changes, to increase their ability to enter the labor market and compete strongly.
- Provide specialized programs in areas required by the nature of available jobs in various fields to enhance competitiveness.
- Prepare trainees to set ambitious and realistic goals, make informed decisions, and design appropriate action plans to measure and evaluate performance.
Strategy of the Qualification, Employment, and Follow-up Division:
Continuously studying the needs of the labor market to monitor changes occurring in society and its needs, which affect the job opportunities available to graduates from all colleges at Al-Karkh University of Science. Based on this study, appropriate training programs are designed and delivered to qualify university students and graduates to seize available job opportunities.
Duties of the Qualification, Employment, and Follow-up Division:
- Training and qualifying students with additional skills for the purpose of integrating them into the labor market by holding training workshops specific to this field.
- Assisting graduates in employing them by contacting private and public companies and medical laboratories to find job opportunities that match their aspirations and the academic experience they have gained at their universities, as well as their training in the fields of qualification, employment, and follow-up.
- Coordinating, preparing, and holding job fairs in cooperation with private and public companies for the purpose of communicating with graduate students.
- Following up with graduates after their employment, identifying their strengths and weaknesses, and submitting periodic reports to their colleges regarding modifying curricula to meet labor market requirements.
- Holding courses on CV writing, interview techniques, and the most common English terms used in interviews.
- Holding workshops aimed at changing societal misconceptions about job dependency and waiting for a job, and spreading the culture of entrepreneurship among various segments of society.
- Encouraging students to establish their own projects.
- Conducting studies and submitting proposals to develop curricula to meet labor market requirements.
