About the Department
The Scholarships and Cultural Relations Department is one of the vital departments within the Presidency of Al-Karkh University of Science and operates under the supervision of the Assistant President for Academic Affairs. The department is responsible for organizing and managing scholarship affairs and developing academic and cultural relations with international universities and institutions.
Department Tasks and Achievements
A. Scholarship and Fellowship Management: Organizing and managing scholarship affairs for students and staff, including submission, follow-up, and facilitating administrative procedures.
B. Strengthening Cultural and Academic Relations: Building and developing cooperative relationships with universities and academic institutions outside Iraq through the signing of memoranda of understanding and joint cooperation agreements.
C. International Student Support: Providing support to international students and facilitating their integration into the university’s academic and cultural environment.

Electronic Reference Center
The EU Projects Unit, also known as the Erasmus+ Program, is a special unit of the European Union’s Erasmus+ program, which aims to support education, training, youth, and sports in European countries. It also provides opportunities for students, researchers, and academics from outside the European Union, including Arab countries, to participate in academic and cultural exchange programs.
Program Objectives:
Enhancing the quality of higher education.
– Supporting understanding between peoples through cultural and academic exchange.
– Developing the personal, academic, and professional skills of participants.
– Supporting educational reforms in partner countries.
Note: The university has a proposed project topic titled:
“Application of AI in Medical Fields”
The Study in Iraq unit is part of the Study in Iraq program, which is an initiative. Launched by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, it aims to attract international students to study at Iraqi public and private universities. The program offers various scholarships for undergraduate, graduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees in various academic disciplines.
Program Objectives:
– Promoting cultural and scientific exchange: by attracting students from around the world to study in Iraq.
– Developing Iraqi higher education: by introducing cultural and academic diversity within Iraqi universities.
– Building bridges of international cooperation: by providing a multicultural learning environment.
Note: A student from Nigeria was accepted into the College of Energy Sciences, Department of Environmental Sciences, but has not yet begun his studies.
English Language Unit: This unit supports academic and administrative work and aims to promote the use of the English language across the university.
Responsibilities and Objectives:
Translation: Providing translation services from and into English for official documents, correspondence, and academic content.
Academic Support: Assisting the Academic Affairs Department in reviewing and proofreading research summaries and articles in English, especially those intended for publication in international journals.
Training and Development: Organizing workshops and training courses to improve English language skills. For faculty members and staff.
Future Directions:
Expanding the international cooperation network with prestigious universities and academic institutions worldwide.
Promoting and developing cultural exchange programs that contribute to enriching the academic experience for students and faculty.
