Secretary-General of the Central Library at Al-Karkh University of Science Participates in the Second Environmental Forum Organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports

The Secretary-General of the Central Library at Al-Karkh University of Science, Asst. Prof. Dr. Aqeel Mahmoud Ali, participated in the Second Environmental Forum organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports / Scientific Care Department. The event witnessed wide participation from academics, specialists, and environmental and sustainable development activists, with the attendance of representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Ministry of Interior (Environmental Police), the Ministry of Agriculture, and several Iraqi universities.

The forum addressed a number of key topics related to climate change, sustainable resource management, and the role of academic institutions in promoting environmental awareness.

In his contribution to the panel discussion, the Secretary-General of the Central Library emphasized the vital awareness-raising role that university libraries play in supporting national efforts to protect the environment, by providing scientific resources and adopting knowledge initiatives that help build environmental awareness among students and researchers.

He further noted that the Central Library at Al-Karkh University of Science is working to strengthen partnerships with government institutions and civil society organizations to support environmental programs and specialized scientific research.

This forum comes as part of the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ efforts to spread environmental culture among young people and encourage their active participation in environmental protection, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and Iraq’s future environmental plans.
