
The President of Karkh University of Science participates in the International Scientific Conference Geo Tunisia
The President of Karkh University of Science, Prof. Dr. Thamer Abdel Amir Hassan, participated in the work of the 13th session of the International Scientific Conference on the Applications of Geographical Information Systems, Remote Sensing and Geospatial – Geo Tunisia, which was held in the Republic of Tunisia for the period from 16 to 20 March 2021.
The President of the University stressed in his speech during the conference that I was briefed on the conference’s axes, which constitute a turning point in the field of education, industry, sustainable development, geological maps, geophysics and oil exploration, and that this conference places the real responsibility on the founders and organizers of the conference. The pandemic prevented this, and we look forward to communicating with the researchers participating in the conference and await the resulting recommendations and applications.
For their part, the attendees and organizers of the conference praised the efforts of Karkh University for Science and the role of the president of the university in the fields of geophysics, explorations and patents.
It is worth mentioning that the conference, which was held under the auspices of the Tunisian Association for Digital Geographical Information and the Euro-Arab Geomatics Union and in cooperation with major international scientific and technological institutions, under the slogan "The Role of Geographical Infrastructure in Establishing a Sustainable Development", aims to shed light on the applications and means of GIS and remote sensing. Geospatial technology and its impact on solving developmental problems economically, environmentally, socially and security.
The conference included discussion of a number of themes, the most important of which are applications in the field of health and epidemic control, management of natural and water resources and agriculture, environmental problems, natural disasters, climate change, desertification problems, applications of geography of risks in the management of crises and industrial disasters, and land and real estate management. Infrastructure and networks, management of tourist areas, sites, historical monuments and archaeological sites, management of industrial areas and energy problems, security and defense as well as standards for managing geographical data.
