Under the patronage of the President of Al-Karkh University of Science, Prof. Dr. Jumaa Salman Jiyad, the Center for Continuing Education organized a training workshop entitled \u201cThe Role of Civil Defense in Protecting Society\u201d<\/em>, with the participation of a number of staff and faculty members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop, delivered by Lect. Suhail Faisal Mohammed<\/strong> from the Center for Continuing Education, included a lecture on different types of risks and the role of citizens in supporting the efforts of rescue and safety teams. Real field experiences were also presented to raise community awareness about the vital role played by civil defense teams in safeguarding lives and property, as well as the necessary procedures to be followed in emergencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of civil defense in disaster prevention, proper risk management, evacuation planning, and to provide practical guidance on the use of safety equipment, fire extinguishers, and first aid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In conclusion, the workshop recommended conducting regular drills on evacuation and safety procedures across all university departments, ensuring the availability and periodic maintenance of firefighting equipment, activating early warning systems in buildings and public facilities, and enhancing cooperation between the university and the Ministry of Interior \/ Directorate of Civil Defense to deliver regular awareness programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This workshop is part of a series of awareness activities organized by the university to strengthen safety and preventive awareness among its students and staff, in line with its academic and community mission and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
