
Al-Karkh University of Sciences Holds Cycling and Walking Marathon
As part of the university’s efforts to promote a culture of health and sports awareness, encourage physical activity among university community members, and achieve sustainable development goals, Al-Karkh University of Sciences organized a unique sports marathon, including a cycling and walking race. The marathon was attended by a number of students, faculty, and staff.
The marathon, held on campus, witnessed a large turnout from various departments and colleges, with participants divided into groups according to age group.
The event was held in an atmosphere of enthusiasm and interaction, with participants demonstrating a high level of sportsmanship, reflecting the university’s commitment to promoting public health and physical fitness among all its members.
Professor Jumaa Salman Jiyad, President of Al-Karkh University of Sciences, emphasized the importance of such sporting events, which contribute to spreading the culture of sports within the university community and supporting cooperation between students and faculty members. He expressed the university’s readiness to continue organizing such events on a regular basis.
At the conclusion of the marathon, prizes were distributed to the winners in each category by the Dean of the College of Energy and Environment at the university, Professor Raed Nofi Hassan. The Dean highlighted the importance of active participation in sports activities to encourage everyone to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
