In its ongoing efforts to strengthen academic partnerships and develop the educational and research process, Al-Karkh University of Science signed a twinning and cooperation agreement with Al-Turath Private University. The agreement aims to elevate the scientific and academic standing of both universities and expand areas of joint cooperation in accordance with quality standards and academic accreditation requirements.
The agreement was signed by Professor Dr. Jumaa Salman Jiyad, President of Al-Karkh University of Science, representing the former, and Professor Dr. Jaafar Jaber Jawad, President of Al-Turath Private University, representing the latter, in the presence of several academic officials. Both sides emphasized that this agreement represents a strategic step towards building effective scientific partnerships that will contribute to enhancing the standing of both universities among prestigious institutions.
The agreement aims to solidify scientific and academic cooperation and open new avenues for integration in the fields of teaching, scientific research, and student activities, thereby contributing to the development of higher education outcomes and serving the community.
The agreement encompassed several key areas, including collaboration in teaching through the development of curricula and syllabi for related disciplines, the exchange of books and scientific resources, and the organization of training workshops to enhance the skills of faculty and staff. It also included cooperation in summer training programs, joint supervision of student graduation projects, shared use of laboratories and workshops, support for e-learning, and the organization of joint lectures and examinations.
In the field of scientific research, the agreement stipulated conducting joint research projects and publishing them in international journals, evaluating research, holding joint scientific conferences, and joint supervision and discussion of graduate students. Furthermore, it covered cooperation in academic promotions, the use of laboratories and scientific resources, and the organization of specialized workshops, courses, and seminars.
The agreement also included student activities through the exchange of academic visits, the organization of sports and cultural activities, scientific and artistic exhibitions, and the organization of scientific debates among students in related disciplines, supervised by faculty members.
The agreement addressed management and professional development through the exchange of administrative expertise, the establishment of training workshops in laboratory quality and accreditation, the exchange of electronic programs, and the participation of faculty members from the private university in teaching methodologies courses offered by public universities.
The agreement stipulated that financial matters are subject to the laws and regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The memorandum of understanding entered into force upon its signing for a period of three years, renewable, with mechanisms for cancellation, confidentiality, intellectual property rights, and dispute resolution established within the agreed legal frameworks.
At the conclusion of the signing ceremony, the presidents of both universities expressed their hope that this agreement would contribute to achieving shared scientific and academic goals and enhance the standing of both universities, thus serving students and the scientific community in Iraq.
